If you have the time the best and most long lasting way to make money online is to start a business selling a product.

Your first step is to choose your market and research it. Maybe you got your idea first, and then turned to the Internet as a natural vehicle to make money. You find a market firs and then create (or find) a product to sell to this market.

Finding out what they want, and then giving it to them is the sure way to make money online. Most people make the mistake of trying to offer something that people really don't want. Well there not going to buy it if they don't want it.

Now you have to choose your market

One start with something you’re already interested in. This may be the best since you'll enjoy it more and be more into what you'll doing. There is no guarantee that any niche market and any product is going to be wildly profitable for you. But if you enjoy what your doing you will put more into it.
The other route you can take is to find out whats making money. pay attention to the news. What’s hot? What’s being talked about? Likewise, pay attention to what your friends and family are talking about.
Once you have your market in mind you need to research to see if it’s profitable. Are they buying what you’re selling? Knowing what people are searching for in the major search engines is one good place to start your research. You can go to WordTracker.com and find out what people are searching for in your market. In some cases this may mean selling a very similar product to someone, except that you’ll have a different unique selling proposition.
After you spend some time researching your proposed niche market, you’ll likely come up with an idea of the type of product or service the market wants and needs. The next question is this: how are you going to make money providing this solution to them?
Now you could make the product but that's alot of work. Your better off finding a product and selling it for others.
